Over Christmas '07 and inton January 2008, Eminem was admitted to Detroit hospital and speculation on why he was there ran rampant. His publicist later explained that he was checked in because of pneumonia.
Eminem announced two months later that he was working on recording his fifth album, his first release in three years.
Eminem is finally set to release two albums in 2009: Relapse and Relapse 2, after dealing with a long-term battle a sleeping pill addiction. "I wasn’t ready to give up the drugs. I didn’t really think I had a problem," he has said. "Basically, I went in, and I came out. I relapsed, and I spent the next three years struggling with it. Also, at that time, I felt like I wanted to pull back, because my drug problem had got so bad. I felt like, ‘Maybe if I take a break, maybe this will help.’ I started to get into the producer role more. I can still be out there with my music, but I don’t have to be in the spotlight the whole time."
